Robert Uriah "Bob" Skane, of Scituate, formerly of Melrose, died at his home on Sept. 16, 2014 at the age of 76. Bob was born & raised in Everett and attend Everett schools. He resided in Everett until 1956, Melrose for 27 years and the past 11 years in Scituate. Bob worked as an Ironworker for the Local #7 for over 50 years before his retirement. He was a dog lover and enjoyed scratch tickets and watching sports. The most important part of Bob's life was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was the beloved husband of Rose Marie (Correia) Skane for 57 years. Loving father of Donna Akerley & her companion Jerome Sanfilippo of Somerville, Robert Skane & his wife Theresa Hadley of Billerica, Jeffrey Skane & his wife Jackie of Melrose, Michael Skane & his wife Carol of Scituate, John Skane & his wife Hilary of Medford and the late Linda Campbell. Caring brother of Beatrice Thistle, Doris Linnane, Marilyn Crain, John Skane and the late Edward, George, Joan, Skane and Brenda Todd. Cherished grandfather of 16 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and the late David Akerley. Former father-in-law of William Campbell of Wakefield. A funeral service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Saturday, Sept. 20th at 10AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours on Friday from 4-8PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
