Obituary

Robert T. Vaughan passed away at his home in Melrose on Monday, July 29, 2013. He was 81 years of age. Mr. Vaughan was born in Philadelphia, PA, raised in Philadelphia and has been a resident of Melrose for the past 53 years. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. Robert worked as a truck driver for 45 years and was a member of the Teamsters Local 25 in Charlestown. He worked for Boston & Taunton, Perkins Trucking Company as well as numerous other companies throughout his career. Mr. Vaughan enjoyed camping, doing puzzles, listening to music, gardening around his home, taking a ride to get an ice cream; but most of all enjoyed the times spent with his family. Robert was the beloved husband of 60 years to Joan M. (Dargon) Vaughan. Devoted father of Patricia Vaughan Goddard of Westford, Stephen D. Vaughan & his wife Paula of Melrose, Eric M. Vaughan & his wife Julie of Manchester, NH and the late Robert A. Vaughan. Loving grandfather of Shannamarie, Christopher, Joshua, Merideth, Jennifer, Stephen Jr., Sarah, Eric Jr. and Kyle. Cherished great grandfather of Caeleigh. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Saturday, August 3rd at 9:00AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose at 10AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday from 4-8PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hallmark Health Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, 178 Savin St. Malden, MA 02148.
