Robert M. Walker Sr. passed away suddenly, at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, on Veterans Day, November 11, 2007, he was 77. Born in Roxbury, Bob was raised in Dorchester, graduated from Roxbury Memorial High School and attended Northeastern University. Mr. Walker was a proud veteran, serving with the Marines in the Korean War; he was involved in many battles. He earned 2 purple hearts, a Bronze Star & a Silver Star for his bravery and service to his country. Robert was a member of the DAV in Malden and the VFW DiFronzo Post in Saugus. After the Korean War Robert worked as a traffic manager in the garment district in Boston for 16 years and then for the MBTA as an instructor for 23 years. He was a member of the Carmens Union # 529 and #589. Bob loved to fish, watch TV, sweets and football. He and his wife Carolyn enjoyed taking cruises to the Caribbean and visiting Nova Scotia. Mr. Walker is the husband of 52 years to Carolyn G. (Williams) Walker. Father of Cheryl A. Bromander & her husband Thomas of Andover, Robert M. Jr. & his wife Diane of Billerica, Michael F., John E. & his wife Candice, Paul R. & his wife Susan, Mark J. & his wife Kim all of Tewksbury and the late Judith E. Walker. Brother of Mildred Horne of Dorchester. Grandfather of Ryan & Evan, Sarah & Christopher, Paige & Emily and Marissa. Also survived by several nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Thursday Nov. 15th at 8AM. Funeral Mass in St. Marys Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 9AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours Wed. 4-8PM. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
