Romeo Giannoccaro passed away at the Epoch Senior Care Center in Melrose, on Sunday, February 24, 2008. He was 83 years of age. Romeo was born in Boston to the late Vito & Almina (DeRocini) Giannoccaro, raised in East Boston and graduated from East Boston High School. He then attended Merrimac College where he received his Associates Degree. He lived in Tewksbury for a few years, Medford & Peabody and the past few years in Waltham and Melrose. Romeo worked as an electronics technician for Polaroid, ITech and several other electronic companies in the Route 128 and Cambridge area for many years. He was an accomplished trombonist, playing trombone with several jazz bands in the Boston area in his early years and continued playing through out his life. Mr. Giannoccaro loved jazz & classical music, enjoyed playing golf and traveling internationally after his retirement. Romeo was an avid Red Sox & Patriots fan. Father of Douglas Beecy & his wife Pam of S. Yarmouth, Mark Gianno of Hyannis, Monica Alley & her husband Ed of Ashland, Paul Beecy & his wife Maureen of Melrose and the late Gregory Beecy & Lisa Giannoccaro. Brother of Lillian Danna of East Boston, Gloria Manning of Saugus, Lola Mayo of Winthrop and was predeceased by several brothers & sisters. Also survived by 6 grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews. Funeral service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Thursday, Feb. 28th at 7PM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours prior to the service on Thurs. from 3-7PM. Interment will be private. Arrangements by The Gately Funeral Home of Melrose.
