Ronald DeSimone passed away after a lengthy illness at Massachusetts General Hospital on Wednesday, May 8, 2013. He was only 62 years of age. Ron was born in Cambridge on April 16, 1951 to the late Oliver & Constance (Vadala) DeSimone. He was raised in Medford, graduated from Medford High School, Class of 1969 and was a lifelong resident. Mr. DeSimone was a truck driver and a member of truck driver's union Local 25. He worked for his family's business, Burrell Trucking of Somerville for 25 years before becoming disabled. Ron enjoyed bowling, doing remote curls in his recliner, was a big Red Sox and Patriots fan and loved the vacations he took with his family at Loon Mountain. Mr. DeSimone was the beloved husband of Nancy (Brown) DeSimone. Loving father of Ernie Gylphe of Medford, Megan Gylphe of Plainville, Colleen Gylphe of Medford, Jamie Andino & Christopher DeSimone both of Woburn. Brother of Dennis DeSimone of Nashua, NH. Grandfather of Kaela Rose Gylphe, AJ, Dominic & Joshua Andino. Also survived by his niece Jackie Cranfill as well as several other nieces & nephews. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Monday May 13th from 4:00-8:00PM, followed by a funeral service on Tuesday May 14th at 10:30AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be private.
