Ronald P. "Sully" Sullivan passed away at Massachusetts General Hospital on Friday, October 8, 2010. He was 67 years of age. Ronald was born in Melrose on September 5, 1943, was raised in Melrose, graduated from St. Mary's Grammar School in Melrose and Malden Catholic High School, Class of 1961. Mr. Sullivan has been a lifelong resident of Melrose. Sully worked as a carpet & tile installer for McHale Tile & Carpet of Melrose for over 30 years. He served in the Army National Guard for several years, was a member of the VFW Harold O'Young Post #2394 of Melrose and a longtime member of the Melrose Elks. Ronald was an avid Boston sports fan, had a great sense of humor, loved food and was an avid reader, spending many hours at the Melrose Public Library. Mr. Sullivan was a dedicated and an amazing father to Courtney L. & Stacie E. Sullivan both of Melrose. Beloved son of Patrick L. Sullivan of N. Conway, NH and the late Marie F. (Murphy) Sullivan. Devoted brother of Philip Sullivan of Tyngsboro, Leo & Linda Sullivan of Attleboro, Shawn & Sandy Sullivan of TN and the late Susan Sullivan & Judy Boudreau. Former husband of Betsy (Hudlin) Mattuchio of Melrose. Also survived by several nieces & nephews. A service in celebration of Ronald's life will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Thursday, October 14th at 11AM. Relatives & friends are invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. Interment will be private.
