Rose Tricca of Melrose, MA passed peacefully on February 28, 2024. She was 100 years old.

Born in Boston on June 7, 1923, and raised in Everett, she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo Finocchio and Marietta DiGregorio. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph Tricca with whom she shared 57 joyful years. Rose proudly worked for the Telephone Company for many years while raising her family in Melrose. Rose leaves behind 7 children: Joseph Tricca of Middleton, Steven Tricca and his wife Annie of Newburyport, Marjorie Tricca of York, ME, Kathy Young of Wakefield, Rosanne Spinney and her husband Ed of North Reading, Paula Neulist and her husband Joseph of Tewksbury and Nancy York of Portsmouth, NH along with nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Rose's golden years were filled with simple pleasures. A life-long lover of literature, Rose was often found with a book and a cup of tea. She enjoyed watching the birds in the backyard and keeping up with the lives of her beloved great-grandchildren or listening to the radio and humming along. Rose could still recite poetry she memorized in grade school. A lover of mysteries and historical fiction, Rose attributed her longevity and sharp mind to the books that remained her constant companions. Most of all, Rose will be remembered as a devoted great-grandmother who always seemed to have dessert on hand.

Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Friday, March 8, 2024, from 10AM-11:00AM, followed by a funeral service at the funeral home at 11:00AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
