Rose E. Walker passed away in the Wingate at Reading Nursing Home, on Friday, February, 12, 2010. She was 93 years of age. Rose was born in Charlestown on August 8, 1916 to the late William & Rose (Farron) Fleming. She was raised in Medford and graduated from Medford High School, Class of 1934. In 1943 she enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served during WWII for 3 years. After her discharge she moved to Japan in 1948 and worked as a budget analyst for the US Army for many years. Rose moved to Saugus in 1988 and has been a resident ever since. Mrs. Walker enjoyed traveling all over the world, music, photography, was an avid reader and was very active with the missions overseas. Rose was the loving adoptive daughter of the late Neil & Elizabeth Walker. Aunt of Rosemarie Scanlon, Eileen McCarthy both of Somerville, Jean Morrison of Brockton, Margaret Stronach of Roslindale, Claire Maestri of Burlington, William Fleming of W. Roxbury, Judith Goupil of ME, Kathleen Buckley & Maura Buckley both of Melrose. Also survived by numerous grand nieces & nephews and great grand nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Tues. Feb. 16th at 9AM. Funeral Mass in Rose's memory at The Church of the Incarnation, 425 Upham St. Melrose at 10AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday from 3:00 7:00PM. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
