Rosemary F. (Ryan) Doherty, of Melrose, died on December 10, 2019 at the age of 80. Born in Malden, on September 8, 1939 to Thomas & Frances (Barry) Ryan. Rosemary was raised in Malden and graduated from Girls Catholic High School. She worked in the Division of Civil Service for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for ten years, before leaving the workforce to raise her daughter. She returned to work at the Malden Savings Bank for eleven years, and then at Seabury & Smith Insurance Co. in Burlington for ten years before retiring. Rosemary was the beloved wife of the late Philip P. Doherty Jr. Loving mother of Sheila M. Furlong & her husband Ted of Braintree. Sister of Anna Butler of Melrose. Aunt of Ellen Vaitkunas, Stephen Butler, Susan Butler, Thomas Butler, and Karen Kelly. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose, on Saturday, December 14, 2019 from 9:00-10:00 AM, followed by a 10:30 AM Funeral Mass at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be private.
