Roy J. Moore a life long resident of Melrose passed away at home on Sunday October 18, 2020 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Surrounded by the people he loved most, his family. Born on April 22, 1953 in Revere, Ma. He was 67 years old. Graduate of Melrose High class of 1972. He later joined the Army and the National Guard
Roy loved to fish with his buddy Bob, hunt and loved to work on special project cars. He was the co-owner of New England Engine and Machine in Peabody, Ma. He was loyal to his customers and they ultimately became his great friends. Roy recently retired from his business after 33 years in May. He spent countless years vacationing on Ossipee Lake in NH, where he was happy and found peace especially in the last four months of his life. Roy and his wife, Deb whom he adored, were married for 45 enjoyable years this past September. Together they raised their 3 wonderful children.
Roy was later blessed again with the loves of his life, his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by them all.
He is survived by his loving wife Debra Moore (Guevin), his parents Roy and Betty Moore of Melrose. His daughter, Meridith Pesce of Melrose, his sons Robert Moore and his wife Jennifer of Billerica, and Adam Moore of Melrose. His grandchildren, Tyler, Kailyn, Allesandra, Alexis, Tyler F., Bailey, Peyton and Hunter. His brothers, David Moore and his wife Lisa of Stoneham, Paul Moore and his spouse Eric Bartnett of Gotha, Fl. Son in law of Claire Guevin-Shomody and the late Robert Guevin. Brother in law of Sandra Shelton and her husband John, Laura Ploof and Daniel Guevin and his wife Joanne. And many nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Thursday, October 22, 2020 from 3:00-7:00PM. Relatives & friends are invited to attend. Due to Covid 19 Funeral Service and interment will be private and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date and time to be announced. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Roy's name to Dana Farber Cancer Research Institute 44 Binney St., Suite 1234, Boston, MA 02115.
