Ruth L. (LeVie) FitzGerald passed away at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, on Saturday, November 6, 2010. She was 90 years of age. Ruth was born in Westfield, MA on April 23, 1920 to the late Leroy & Marguerite (Wesson) LeVie. She was raised in Westfield and graduated from Westfield High School and Westfield State Teachers College. Ruth worked for several years as an elementary school teacher in Longmeadow, MA and Hartford, CT prior to getting married and raising her family. Mrs. FitzGerald was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who cherished the times spent with her family. She was an excellent cook, a voracious reader and enjoyed old movies and the opera. Mrs. FitzGerald was the beloved wife of the late Donald J. FitzGerald. Loving mother of Marguerite Alpers & her husband Byron of WS, Ellin Conley & her husband William of Belmont, Donald J. FitzGerald Jr. & his wife Patricia of Melrose and Ruth E. FitzGerald of Chelsea. Cherished grandmother of Donald & Mollie FitzGerald, Nora Alpers and Marguerite Conley. Devoted sister of Marguerite LeVie of Reading. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Thursday, Nov. 11th from 4-8PM. A funeral service will be held at the Robert E. Cusack Funeral Home, 94 Main St. Westfield, on Friday Nov. 12th at 11AM. Relatives & friends are invited to attend.
