Ruth E. (McHatton) Gorman, of Melrose, died at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital on June 11, 2008 at the age of 87. Ruth was born & raised in Melrose, a graduate of Melrose High School and a lifelong Melrose resident. After high school, she worked as a Telephone Operator for New England Telephone Company and as a Clerk for the Dept. of Motor Vehicles. Ruth was a homemaker and a member of the Ladies Sodality at St. Mary's Church in Melrose for many years. She was the beloved wife of the late Frederick J. Gorman. Loving Mother of Frederick J. Gorman Jr. & his wife Claire of Melrose. Cherished grandmother of Sean P. Gorman & his wife Lisa and James J. Gorman, all of Melrose. Caring great grandmother of Timothy, Haley, Alyssa and Cameron. Devoted sister of Irene Mann-Murray & her husband Joseph, Shirley Crawford & her late husband Robert , all of Melrose, Robert McHatton & his wife Claire of NH and the late Eleanor & Frank Cronin & the late Dorothy & Marshall Geyer. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Monday June 16th at 8AM. Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 9AM.
