Ruth A. (Nugent) Murray died Tuesday June 4th in North Carolina. She was raised in Winthrop MA, graduated from Bridgewater State Teachers College and worked as an elementary school teacher prior to marrying John C. Murray. She lived in Melrose for many years before moving to Arden NC in 1984 to live with her daughter Patricia. Ruth was a member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church, was active with the Ladies Guild, was an avid bridge player and previously volunteered time with the Asheville Symphony. She was the wife of the late John C. Murray. Mother of Patricia M. Douglas & her husband Malcolm of NC, Jane F. Murray of Va and John N. Murray & his wife Jane of Saugus. Sister of Mary J. Nugent, John B. Nugent both of VT, Christopher J. Nugent of FL and the late Therese Nugent. Grandmother of Gavin Douglas, Jenna Murray, Joanna Murray & Jacquelyn Murray. Also survived by several step grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Tues. June 11th at 9:30 AM. Funeral mass in St. Mary's Church Herbert St. Melrose at 10AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Tues. morning from 8:30 - 9:30AM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery Melrose.
