Ruth L. (Fifield) Scully, of Melrose, formerly of Saugus, died at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital on July 24, 2012 at the age of 87. Ruth was born & raised in Saugus and a graduate of Saugus High School, Class of 1942. She resided in Melrose since 1943 and worked as a Traffic Supervisor for the Melrose Police Dept. from 1955-1979. Ruth also worked as a Teller and Treasurer for the Melrose Co-Operative Bank from 1976-1986. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and spent a lot of time with her friends at the Milano Senior Center in Melrose. Ruth enjoyed spending her winters for many years in Largo, Florida. She was the beloved wife of the late Daniel F. Scully. Loving mother of Diane McDonald & her husband Kevin of Ossipee, NH, Joanne Montgomery & her husband Scot of Fryeburg, ME, Nancy Scully & her late husband James of Auburn, CA, Edward Scully of Melrose and the late Daniel Scully. Caring grandmother of Sarah Montgomery of NH & Cameron Montgomery of ME. Devoted sister of the late Grace Rayburn, Harris Fifield and Ada Boissoneau. Her special lifelong friend Roberta Johnson of Melrose. Also survived by several nieces & nephews. A funeral service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Friday July 27th at 10AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours on Thursday from 4-8PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
