Said A. Talhouk passed away at his home in Melrose, on Wednesday, March 5, 2008. He was 89 years old. Said was born and raised in Beirut, Lebanon and graduated from high school in Lebanon. He served as a SGT Major in the French Army during WWII and then in the Lebanese Army. Mr. Talhouk worked as a x-ray technician at a Military Hospital in Beirut for 35 years, before moving to Melrose in 1978. After moving to the Melrose, he worked for the Jet Spray Company in Waltham for several years. Said was a longtime member of St. Mary's Church, he enjoyed gardening, history & geography and loved to watch the Celtics with his wife Yvonne. He was the loving husband of 65 years to Yvonne (Khattar) Talhouk. Beloved father of Amine Talhouk & his wife Mary of FL, Amale Daher & her husband Sam and Assaad Talhouk & his wife Amy all of Melrose. Cherished grandfather of Amy, Grace, Monique, Charlotte, Adam and Abigail. Brother of Hikmat Lane of Scotland and the late Nadim, Namat & Iffat Talhouk. Funeral from The Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Monday, March 10th at 9:30AM. Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 10:30AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours Sunday 2-6PM.
