Samuel M. Bird, of Melrose, died at the Glenridge Nursing Care Center in Medford on July 6, 2014 at the age of 72. Sam was born & raised in Chelsea and a graduate of Chelsea High School, Class of 1959. He resided in Melrose for the past 39 years and worked as a Truck Driver for the Teamsters Local #25 for 14 years before his retirement. Sam loved to drive his Harley Davidson motorcycle to Laconia, NH, Daytona Beach, Fl and all over the country. He enjoyed spending a lot of his time at his home in Palm Bay, Fl with his many friends. He was the beloved husband of Christine A. (Meiggs) Bird for 39 years. Loving father of Scott M. Bird of Melrose and Seth D. Bird of Saugus. Cherished grandfather of Terese Lucia, Noah Bird and Jackson Bird. Also survived by many friends in Mass. and Florida. A graveside service will be held at Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose on Friday, July 11th at 11AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. There are no visiting hours.
