IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Samuel F. "Sam"
Dechiaro
February 16, 1954 – January 2, 2023
Samuel F. "Sam" DeChiaro, of Melrose, passed away at home on January 2, 2023, at the age of 68.
Sam's amazing existence began in Brooklyn New York on February 16th, 1954. He was always a brilliant man, and his extraordinarily technical mind is ultimately what created the future life he would live out. It drove him to pursue a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, landing him at the City University of Ney York where he through fate met the love of his life, my mother. Loving him until the end, they married and quickly there after began their life together with her following him to Iowa where he began his career. Landing what would end up being the last company he worked for; he spent the last 44 years. Serving as a mechanical engineer and management for GE Aviation he loved what he did, and the people he enjoyed working with. It didn't take long before he started a family, with his son Bradley followed by Gregory. He loved his wife and kids to a fault, never giving up when things were hard and always planning for our future. He would, and did, give up anything for us. He was everything a father, husband, Man should be, and he did it perfectly. He was an extremely healthy and fit man. His body was his temple, and he would go to great lengths to make sure he was doing what was best for it. He would run 4 miles every other day, and lift weights the days not running. Sam was a Beast, our Beast. He was extremely good at working with his hands and building/fabricating things on his own. Building his kids, a two-story club house and swing set from scratch, finishing the basement in his final and dream home in Melrose to a standard that many professionals struggle to accomplish. Generally quiet, but full of emotion with a mind that was always in thought, his jokes were sometimes terrible. But he knew that, and he worked with it knowing they were terrible which he somehow made hilarious. He was, and still is and always will be Amazing. He managed to find his own ways to settle that mind of his. He loved his dogs the late Butch, Kate, Lilly and the currently alive Hunter. Spending periods of every evening unwinding playing with Butch and Kate. Sam loved Music; he was an audiophile with an impeccable ear for sound quality. Reading about audio equipment every night and even modifying his own equipment with his numerous technical skills sets to make it perform better than factory. He would enjoy listening to Jazz at night on the weekends after setting up his home-made sound dampening, which my mother always joked he was nuts, but she loved it. All of this only begins to scratch the surface of who Sam was and I genuinely feel for those who never got to know who he was. He was the best father anyone could ever realistically ask for, a Loving husband until the end, tough as nails but a soul as gentle as they come, quiet but full of hope, love and drive. He IS Amazing. Love you Pops...
Sam was the beloved husband of Margaret M. (Wilson) DeChiaro. Loving father of Gregory M. DeChiaro of Melrose and the late Bradley J. DeChiaro. Caring brother of Deborah Canciello & her husband Robert of NJ. Uncle of Alix & Paul Canciello, both of NJ.
