Sandra L. (DeHaven) Sodano passed away peacefully at home on March 18, 2024, surrounded by her family, she was 77 years of age. Sandra was born in Boston, MA and was a resident of Medford for over 50 years. Sandra later moved to Melrose to be closer to her daughter Renee, her husband Tony and their children.
Sandra was the loving and devoted wife of Stephen J. Sodano for 54 years. The most important thing to her was her family, especially her children and identical twin sister, Suzanne. Sandra and her husband Stephen loved sailing, taking walks on the beach, and spending time with one another. Sandra was a passionate advocate for Native American Tribes across the county. Her research assisted tribes with various initiatives. A collector of Native American artifacts, Sandra spent her final days repatriating them to the originating Native tribes.
Sandra was the adored wife of the late Stephen J. Sodano. Identical twin sister of Suzanne Murphy of Medford. Beloved mother of David C. Sodano & his wife Michele of Murrells Inlet, SC and Renee L. Sousa & her husband Tony of Melrose. Cherished Nana of Stephen R. Sodano, MacKenzie Sodano, Anthony Sousa, Michael Sousa, Deanna Sousa, her fiancé Shane Meredith and proud great Nana of Shane Jr.
Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home on Monday morning, March 25,2024 from 10:30-11:45AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, 4 Herbert St., Melrose at 12:00 pm.. The burial will be private. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital @stjudechildrenshospital.org.
