Sara E. (OCallaghan) Hobbs of Melrose, formerly of Chelsea & Revere, died on Friday, January 4, 2007 at the EPOCH Senior Healthcare Center of Melrose. She was 91 years old. Born in Chelsea on July 9, 1916, to the late Cornelius & Anne (Rolfe) O'Callaghan, she was raised in Chelsea and graduated from St. Rose Grammar School & High School, class of 1933. She lived most of her life in Chelsea, 10 years in Revere & 13 years in Melrose. Mrs. Hobbs worked as a heat sealer with the Hysil Manufacturing Company of Chelsea for over 40 years. She enjoyed bingo, Foxwoods, shopping and liked to eat. Sara was a member of the St. Rose Womens Club of Chelsea and the 200 Club at the Levi-Gould Retirement Home of Melrose. She was the devoted wife of 54 years to the late Everett S. Hobbs, loving mother Michael J. Hobbs & his late wife Mary L. of Scarborough, ME & Everett S. Hobbs & his wife Kathy of Chelsea. Cherished grandmother of 10 & great grandmother of 9. Caring sister of Arthur OCallaghan of Hanover, MA & 10 late siblings. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose Wed. Jan. 9th at 9AM. Funeral mass in St. Marys Church Herbert St. Melrose at 10AM. Family & friends invited.
