Sharon L. "Sherry" (Penney) LeBlanc died suddenly at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on March 22, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Sherry was born in Boston, was raised in Saugus, graduated from Saugus High School and attended Essex Aggie for hairdressing and cosmetology. Mrs. Leblanc lived in Melrose for over 40 years before moving to Wilmington a few years ago.
Sherry was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed raising her children, worked for the City of Melrose School Department, was the head lunch supervisor at the Lincoln School for several years and then went on to be a ticket agent for Delta Airlines for 10 years. In her younger years she worked at a waitress for the Red jacket Resort in North Conway.
She loved spending time in the White Mountains and North Conway, skiing with her family at Black Mountain in Jackson, NH and she loved spending summers at Wingaersheek Beach in Gloucester. Sherry loved everything Irish including Irish whiskey. Mrs. LeBlanc was an avid reader, especially murder mystery books, loved the Red Sox and all the animals she had thru her life. Above all her grandchildren were the light of her life the past several years.
Sherry was the loving wife of the late Richard L. LeBlanc. Loving mother of Caitlin E. deLaBruere & her husband Ryan of North Reading and Ryan R. LeBlanc of North Reading. Cherished grandmother of Benjamin & Caleb. Loving sister of Roxanne Dalzell & her husband Paul, Susan Dube & her late husband Raymond, Lisa Howitt & her husband AL, Paula Penney & the late Patience Penney. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Thursday, March 25, 2021 from 4:00-7:00PM. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home on Friday morning, March 26th at 11:00AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, 9 Herbert St. Melrose at 12Noon. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Sherry's name to the MSPCA, 350 South Huntington Ave, Boston, MA 02130 or @ www.mspca.org.
Those planning on attending are required to follow Covid-19 protocol by wearing masks, keeping a social distance, paying their respects to the family and exiting the funeral home to allow others to attend. We are limited to the number of guests inside the funeral home at one time.
