Obituary

Master Sergeant Shawn P. Demenkow, USMC, Retired, (47) passed away at home in Maysville, NC, on August 8th. Shawn was born on June 12, 1970 and grew up in Wakefield, MA. He was a beloved son to his mother, Barbara (Dickenson) Hallstrom and her husband, Robert Hallstrom of Sebago, ME; his father, Paul Demenkow and his wife, Frances (Ahern) Demenkow of North Reading, MA. He was the cherished brother of Victoria (Demenkow) Lee and her husband, Gino Lee of Tucker, GA. and beloved stepbrother of Jennifer (Reboulet) McDonald and her husband John of Wakefield, Scott Reboulet and his wife Michelle, also of Wakefield and Stephen Reboulet and his wife, Jennifer of Townsend, MA. Shawn graduated from NE Metro Regional Vocational School in Wakefield (class of '89), where he met his high school sweetheart and lifelong partner, Anne (Wallace) Demenkow. Together, they created a loving family and raised three beautiful children. Shawn was a devoted husband to Anne and proud father to their two sons, Timothy Demenkow and Airman First Class Andrew Demenkow, USAF, and was preceded in death by their dearest daughter, Emily Demenkow. Shawn was a beloved son-in-law to Loretta Wallace and the late Ralph Wallace of Wakefield, MA. Shawn is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends, including his extensive military family of service men and women with whom he shared all of his adult working life. Shawn knew early on that he would dedicate his career to serving in the military. He enlisted straight out of high school and served for 24 years in the United States Marine Corps. He retired in 2014. Shawn was a craftsman and enjoyed creating things in his shop where he worked for long hours on welding and wood working projects. He enjoyed nature, his land in Maine, riding the quads with his parents, fishing with his boys, playing endlessly with his three cats, and panning for gold with his wife. He was an avid fly fisherman and learned the art of fly-tying as well. He took great pride in his work, his hobbies, and above all, his family. Friends and family alike will miss his boisterous personality, meaningful conversations, and willingness to always share a good story. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Incarnation Church, 425 Upham St. Melrose on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 10:00AM. Interment with full military honors at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield.
