Stanley A. Gizzi passed away at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, on Monday, December 12, 2011. He was 89 years of age. Mr. Gizzi was born in Boston on May 3, 1922 to the late Peter & Bettina (DiCicco) Gizzi. Stan was raised in the North End of Boston and has been a resident of Melrose for over 50 years. Mr. Gizzi worked in the maintenance department of the Lord Wakefield Hotel for many years and then at St. Mary's Church Rectory for over 10 years. Stanley was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who cherished the times spent with his family. He was an excellent chef, loved to eat and has been a longtime member at St. Mary's Church in Melrose. Mr. Gizzi was the beloved husband of 56 years to Betty J. (Darrah) Gizzi. Devoted father of Patricia Coburn of Melrose and Dennis M. Horgan & his wife Carolyn of Wakefield. Loving grandfather of Heather, Jennifer & Michael Coburn and Haley & Dayna Horgan. Cherished great grandfather of Mekhi, Cadence & DeAndra. A Funeral Mass to celebrate Stan's life will be held on Friday, December 16th at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 11:30AM. Relatives & friends are invited to attend. There are no visiting hours and the burial will be private.
