Stanley D. Staskawicz passed away at Bear Hill Nursing Center in Wakefield, on November 14, 2014. He was 90 years of age. Stanley was born in Poland on January 15, 1924 to the late Julius & Anna (Chrepowicz) Staskawicz, he was raised in Boston and attended Boston schools. He entered the US Army in 1942 and served his country with pride during WWII. Mr. Staskawicz served for 3 years overseas during the war in Normandy, Rhineland and Northern France. While stationed in England he met his wife Alma and they were married in England on June 11, 1945. Later she traveled to the United States as a war bride on the Queen Elizabeth II. After his discharge he and his wife and settled in Melrose in 1954 and he has been a resident ever since. Stanley worked as a chemical operator at Monsanto Chemical Company in Everett for 44 years and held a second job working for Malden Taxi for over 25 years. He was a founding member of Incarnation Church in Melrose, a founding member of the East Side Athletic Club in Malden and a former member of the VFW in Malden. Stanley was a voracious reader, he was self taught man, loved the Patriots, enjoyed watching NFL Football and the Boston Red Sox. He was the beloved husband of 65 years to the late Alma L. (Partridge) Staskawicz. Loving father of the late Robert Staskawicz & his wife Liann of Windham, NH, Brian Staskawicz & his wife Martha of Berkley, CA and Kenneth Staskawicz of Melrose. Grandfather of Liam & Kerrin, Craig & Natalie and Sean. Great grandfather of Brianna, Kristyn & Zakkery. Sister of Helen Abramoski of Hyde Park. Also survived by several, nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Saturday, November 22, 2014 from 2:00-5:00PM with a Prayer Service at 4:00PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett will be private.
