Obituary

Stella (Waitkus) Kasperwicz, of Melrose, died at the Winchester Rehabilitation & Nursing Center on March 16, 2010 at the age of 87. Stella was born & raised in Cambridge and was a graduate of Cambridge Latin High School, Class of 1939. She worked as a Salesperson for Crucible Steel in Worcester for 30 years and was the first women inside salesperson in the company's history. Stella also worked for McClean Steel in Quincy for 15 years. She resided in Waltham for 10 years and lived most of her life in Melrose. Stella was very active and enjoyed reading, history, crocheting, writing letters, collecting shells, travel and was very independent. She was an avid baseball fan and was very proud of her late brother Edward Waitkus who play professional baseball for the Phillies and the Orioles. Stella was the former wife of the late Paul Kasperwicz. Caring sister of the late Edward Waitkus. Devoted aunt of Ronni Barry of Boston, Edward Waitkus Jr. & his wife Susan of CO, Janet Mannone & her husband Joseph of Malden, Pearl Smith & her husband Daniel of Cohasset and Paul Frenchko of Middleborough. Sister in law of Carol Hausen & her husband John of NY and Dorothy Kasperwicz & her late husband Walter of Reading. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and her many friends at the Cefalo House in Melrose. A funeral service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Saturday March 27th at 10AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 9-10AM. Burial in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge. Arrangements by the Gately Funeral Home, Melrose.
