Stephen C. Beck passed away suddenly at the Lahey Medical Center in Burlington, on October 11, 2013. He was only 69 years of age. Stephen was born in Cambridge to the late Charles J. & Josephine (Rotondo) Beck on July 28, 1944. He was raised in Cambridge and went to Cambridge Ringe & Latin High School. Mr. Beck has been a resident of Melrose for over 20 years. Stephen was the supervisor of facilities at Brandeis University in Waltham for the past 12 years and manager of the Village Motel in York Beach, Maine for 10 years prior to Brandeis University. Mr. Beck was an avid boater, loved driving his vintage cars, liked snowmobiling with friends and enjoyed his trips to Florida and Las Vegas. He was the beloved husband of Paula E. (Marchetti) Beck. Loving father of Robert McLaughlin & his wife Abigail of FL and Michael McLaughlin of Somerville. Proud grandfather of Hannah, Juliah & Isabellah. Caring brother of Charles Beck & his wife Kimberly of NH & Robert Beck & his wife Eileen of NJ. Loving son-in-law of Henry & Dorothy Freniere. Caring brother-in-law of Michael & Mary Ann Connors, Keith & Kathleen Hughes, Michael & Patricia Marchetti and Christopher Marchetti. Also survived by numerous nephews, nieces and friends. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Thursday, October 17th at 9:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 10:30AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday from 4:00-8:00PM. Interment will be private.
