Stephen L. Pappas of Malden, died on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital. He was 88 years old. Born in Boston on October 3, 1920 to the late Leonardis & Theadora (Papa George) Pappas, he was raised in Revere and a 1938 graduate of Revere High School. After high school, Mr. Pappas joined the United States Air Force and served proudly during WWII. He worked as a service repairman with F & E Check Protectors for 20 years, as an electrician and had his own lawn mower & chain saw repair shop. He was Mr. Fix it to all whom knew him. Stephen was a Malden resident since 1953, a member of the American Legion Post 69 of Malden, a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) and the 107th RC Flyers of Rowley. He enjoyed model airplanes, his vegetable garden, taking pictures and driving a new car almost every year. He was the devoted husband of Margaret J. (Carter) Pappas with whom he shared almost 57 years of marriage. He was the loving father of Diane L. Gulczynski & her husband David of San Diego & Stephenie M. Newnan & her husband Brian (MPD) of Malden. Cherished grandfather of John Eric & Margaret Elizabeth Gulczynski. Funeral service in the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Mon. Jan 12th at 10AM. Family & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours Sun. 2-6PM. Rev. Fr. George D. Tsoukalas of St. George's Greek Orthodox Church of Lynn will officiate.
