Suzanne M. (Cataldo) Galvin passed away unexpectedly surrounded by her loved ones at Massachusetts General Hospital, on Monday August 10, 2009. She was 56 years of age. Suzanne was born in Cambridge, raised in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School, Class of 1971. She lived most of her life in Melrose, and most recently resided in Nahant and Lynn. Suzanne worked in the assessor's office at Melrose City Hall for several years and then as a finance manager for local car dealers over the past 20 years. Suzanne was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, interior decorating, shopping and cooking. On any given sunny summer day, you could find her enjoying the beach with friends and family. As the matriarch of her family, her presence will forever be felt through the countless traditions that she so passionately began. She was the proud and loving mother of Peter B. Galvin of Everett, Jennifer L. Romanski & her husband Ian of Holden and Jamie A. Leroy & her husband Christopher of Rutland. Cherished daughter of Albert P. Cataldo of PA & Eleanor (McCann) Cataldo of Lynn. Devoted grandmother of Tyler, Kayla, Drew, Daniel, Samuel & Benjamin. Beloved sister of Albert Cataldo & his wife Marianne of Boxford, Janet MacDougall of Lynn, Linda Galatas of NH & Douglas Cataldo of Lynn. Loving aunt of Natalie & Michelle Cataldo, Sarah & Danielle Cataldo and Matthew MacDougall. Also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins & lifelong friends. A funeral service will be held at Free Christian Church, 31 Elm St. Andover, on Friday, August 14th at 3:00PM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours at the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Thursday Aug.13th from 4-8PM.Interment in Grove Cemetery in Holden will be private.
