Sylvia L. Evans, of Salem, NH and formerly of Melrose, MA passed on April 4, 2024.

She was the daughter of Sylvester and Lucia (Petto) Oscar. She is predeceased by her loving husband Barry and son Christopher. She is survived by her daughter Stacy and her wife Marianne of Londonderry, NH, daughter Jodi and her partner Dave of Revere, MA, her grandchildren, and great grandchildren whom she loved very much.

Sylvia had a soft spot caring for others and was happiest when spending quality time with her family. She also enjoyed tending to her plants and cooking for her others. Sylvia and her late husband co-owned the Garden Café in Malden, MA where they proudly served many delicious meals and created many wonderful relationships with their customers. In the summer, she enjoyed spending lots of time with her family at Lake Winnisquam. Her memory will live on through everyone she met throughout her beautiful life. If you were to ask a friend of hers, many have said that Sylvia was a kind and caring person. They mentioned she often talked about how thankful she was for the amazing memories she made with others.

Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Monday, April 8, 2024, from 4:00PM-7:00PM. A funeral service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 11:00AM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Interment in Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.
