Obituary

Tamie Johnson passed away on October 16, 2025 she was 62 years old. Born August 6, 1963, in Melrose, MA, she was a graduate of Melrose High School class of 1981.

Tamie was the daughter of the late Francis and Elsie Johnson of Melrose. She is survived by her beloved three children, Brandon Ziskind, Ryan Ziskind, and Shannon Ziskind. She was the proud grandmother of Isaac Flores. She was the caring sister to Cynthia and brother Daniel Johnson, and her best friend, Kim Kaufman, and loving sister to the late Beverly Stevens and the late Edward Johnson.

Tamie loved traveling, riding horses, boating, skiing, and helping others. While raising her children she attended all her children's activities including football, soccer, basketball, and her daughter Shannon's horse jumping competitions. She was their biggest fan. Tamie adored the beach and sunshine. She spent her summers on Wingaersheek Beach and on Cape Cod and winters skiing with friends and family.

A natural in sales, Tamie excelled wherever she worked and was consistently a top producer. She had charisma and a way about her that made you feel that you could trust anything she said. She knew how to build relationships and understood people's needs and truly cared about those around her. Tamie's love of travel took her across the world. For over a decade, she spent her vacations assisting her long-time companion, the late Wally Ward, with equine dentistry in the Netherlands, France, and Hawaiian Islands where she formed lifelong friendships. Her friends there loved her so much that they insisted she stay in their homes whenever she visited.

Seeking warmer weather, Tamie later relocated to Florida, living on both coasts—in Naples and West Palm Beach—where she could enjoy the sunshine and beaches year-round. She was an avid Scrabble and Rummikub and more recently Words with Friends and a voracious reader of fiction especially by author's Grisham, Cussler, Flynn and Childs. Tamie looked forward each year to attending Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville concerts with her dear friend Eric and cherished visits with her friends in and around Melrose. In recent years, Tamie especially loved spending time with her only grandson, Isaac—hosting sleepovers, visiting the zoo, and exploring cultural venues together.

Tamie will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered for her bubbly personality and infectious laughter. She was a beautiful, kind, and selfless person whose warmth touched everyone who knew her.
