Thomas E. "Pops" Burns of Stoneham, formerly of Everett, passed away at Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln on September 1, 2019. He was 79 years of age. Thomas was a Marine Corps Veteran. Mr. Burns was predeceased in death by his wife of 55 years Nancy (O'Brien) Burns. Devoted father of Thomas Burns & his wife Debbie of FL, Dorothy Barme & her husband Wayne of Wilmington, James Burns of Stoneham and the late Daniel Burns. Loving big brother of John Burns, Paul Burns, James Burns, Judy Richard, Roxanne D'Ambra and the late Margaret "Peggy" Evans, Frances Altomonte, Harriet Rosenbloom and Marie Wade. Also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins & friends. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 from 4:00-7:00PM. Followed by a funeral service and military honors at 7:00PM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment services will be private for immediate family and friends at a later date. In lieu of flowers the Burns family requests memorial contributions may be made in Pops name to the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital (VA Bedford Hospital), 61 Springs Rd, Bedford, MA 01730 or to a charity of your choice.
