Thomas Angelo DeStefano, was born on February 11th 1959 and passed on March 8th 2021 after a brief fight with an aggressive cancer. Tom was born and raised in Melrose, Tom attended Melrose High School and The North Bennet Street School for carpentry. He worked as a self employed carpenter and was also a member of Carpenters Union local #339. Tom was preceded in death by his mother, Gloria DeStefano and leaves behind his father Pasquale of Melrose. A brother Patrick and wife Susan of Centerville. A brother James and his wife Maria of North Reading. A brother Ken and his wife Jackie of Melrose. A sister Maria of Melrose. Tom leaves behind his best friend and uncle Dan Federico. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Tom loved Boston sports and traveled extensively to see various games. His one dream was to travel to China and he made it there three times. Tom was a great man who was always smiling and joking around. He will be greatly missed. A Funeral Service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Friday, March 12th at 4PM, followed by visiting hours from 4:30 - 7PM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or the charity of your choice. Those planning on attending are required to follow Covid-19 protocol by wearing masks, keeping a social distance, paying their respects to the family and exiting the funeral home to allow others to attend. We are limited to the number of guests inside the funeral home at one time.
