Obituary

Thomas F. Satham of Malden, formerly of Melrose & Roxbury died on Oct. 18th at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital at the age of 88. He was born in Manhattan, NY and moved to Roxbury in 1945, lived in Melrose for several years & has lived in Malden for 25years. Tom worked as an engineer for the Dept. of the Navy in Charlestown and Brooklyn, NY for over 30 years until his retirement in 1977. He was a Past Master of Rising Sun Lodge #3 of Prince Hall Grand Lodge in Roxbury & secretary of the lodge for many years and a worthy patron of the Eastern Star. Tom was a life member of the National Assoc. of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) and a volunteer for the Mystic Valley Elder Services & was a great fan of Jazz. He was the husband of the late Margaret M. (McCoy) Satham. Father of Catherine B. Gholston of Springfield, OH & Sara I. Satham and her husband Mark Fisette of Malden. Grandfather of Samantha Gerardi of Reading, Rose Tucker & Sergio Gholston, both of Springfield, OH and Thomas M. Satham-Fisette of Malden. Great grandfather of Alyssa & Morgan Gerardi and Gabriel Tucker. A funeral service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Wednesday Oct. 22nd at 10AM. Relative & friends invited. Visiting hours on Tuesday from 4-8PM.
