Timothy C. Moynihan passed away at his home in Melrose, on January 5, 2014. He was 69 years of age. Tim was born in Rossacrue Killarney, County Kerry, Ireland on December 9, 1944 to late Patrick & Catherine (Kelliher) Moynihan. He was raised in Ireland and came to the United States at the age of 18. Tim lived in North Cambridge and Somerville for many years before settling in Melrose in 1971. Mr. Moynihan worked at TAC (The Architectural Collaborative) in Cambridge for 25 years before he and his wife Mary Anne opened Breads'N Bits of Ireland in downtown Melrose, which they operated for 23 years. Tim was a very hard working husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed smoking his pipe, had a great sense of humor, enjoyed woodworking and was a talented carpenter who could fix anything. He loved to bowl, was an avid Bruins fan and enjoyed going to all his kids sporting events. Tim and Mary Anne took several trips a year to visit family in Ireland, he liked taking trips to Europe and they were members of the North Shore Irish Club and the Donegal Club. Tim was the beloved husband of 46 years to Mary Anne (McGonagle) Moynihan. Devoted father of Wayne Moynihan & his wife Georgeanna of Ohio, Sheri Breau & her husband Roger of NH, Laura Moynihan of Lynnfield and Patrick Moynihan of FL. Proud grandfather of Zachary, Abbey, Isabella, Timothy & Sofia. Loving brother of Betty Rivera of CA, Mary Carey, Bernadette Moynihan, Nora Lucey all of Ireland and the late James Moynihan. Also survived by several sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws and numerous nieces, nephews & friends. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Saturday, January 11th at 8:45AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose at 10AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday from 4:00-8:00PM. Interment at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose.
