Velna C. (Godbout) Montague passed away at her home in Melrose on Thursday, December 22, 2011. She was 87 years of age. Velna was born in Sanford, Maine on June 27, 1924 to the late Ovide & Marion (Vachon) Godbout. She was raised in Malden, graduated from Malden High School and has been a resident of Melrose for the past 61 years. Mrs. Montague wintered in Vero Beach Florida for 12 years, was a longtime member of St. Mary's Church and loved birds and flowers. Velna (Val) was the wife of the late Paul B. Montague. Mother of Nancy Montague-Rand & her wife Yardena of RI, Dianne McQuillen & her husband Paul of Melrose, Thomas Montague of NH and James Montague of Melrose. Sister of the late Raymond Godbout and Irene Keen. Grandmother of Jennifer Rousseau & her husband Tim, Derek McQuillen & his wife Stephanie, Lawrence McGinnis, Renee Scola, Rachel Montague-Rand and Colleen Teeter. Also survived by 7 great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Tuesday, December 27th at 8AM. A Mass of Christian Burial weld be held for Val at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 9AM. Relatives & friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday from 4-8PM with a Celebration of Life service at 7:30. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
