Veronica L. Vera (Harrington) Gorman passed away at Kindred Hospital in Peabody on Nov. 1st at the age of 95. Vera was born in East Boston, raised in Melrose, graduated from Melrose High School and Salem Normal School, Class of 1930. Mrs. Gorman taught elementary school at the LaFyette School in Everett for 14 years, took a few years off to raise her family and then contuinued to teach for another 14 years at the Forest Dale School in Malden, retiring in 1971. Vera has been a resident of Melrose since 1923, was a lifelong member of St. Marys Church, a member of the Ladies Sodality at church and a member of the Mass. Teachers Association. She was also very active in the Salem Normal School Alumni.Vera was the wife of the late Daniel E. Gorman Sr.. Mother of Thomas E. Gorman & his wife Jane of N. Reading, Daniel E. Gorman Jr. of Melrose and Andrea M. Gelder & her husband Stuart of ME. Grandmother of Peter R. & Joseph D. Gorman both of N. Reading and Gillian R. Gelder of ME. Beloved Auntie V. to numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Thurs Nov. 4th at 8AM. Funeral Mass in St. Marys Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 9AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Wed. 4-8PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery Melrose.
