Virginia D. "Ginny" (Denny) Ahern passed away at the Wakefield Care & Rehab Center of October 23, 2010. She was 82 years of age. Ginny was born in Boston on June 17, 1928 to the late Ellis & Margaret (Lynch) Denny. She was raised in Everett, graduated from Chevrus High School in Malden and has been a Melrose resident for 50 years. Mrs. Ahern was a homemaker and had worked at Everett National Bank prior to raising her family. Ginny was a longtime member of Bellevue Golf Club in Melrose, enjoyed bowling in the local women's league, and was a Red Sox and Patriots fan. Mrs. Ahern had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed summer vacations at Sebago Lake in Maine. Ginny was the beloved wife of William H. Ahern., Loving mother of William H. Ahern Jr & Kimberly Rymsza, Tracey A. Moriarty & husband John, all of Melrose and Lesley M. Ahern of Charlestown. Devoted grandmother of Jack, Maggie & Maeve Moriarty. Sister of the late Sr. Mary Ellis SSND. Lifelong friend of Jean Kerr of Middleton. Also survived by several nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Wednesday, October 27th, at 9AM. A Funeral Mass in celebration of Ginny's life will be held at The Church of the Incarnation, 425 Upham St. Melrose, at 10AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday from 4-8PM. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
