Virginia S. (Cefalo) Wheeler, of Melrose, died Sunday, January 31st 2010 at the Tuell Nursing Home. She was 93 years old. Born November 22, 1916 in Boston to the late Generoso & Mary (Chiampa) Cefalo, she was raised for a few years in the North End and then moved to Melrose, spending the rest of her life there. Virginia worked as a telephone operator with New England Telephone for many years. She attended the Most Blessed Sacrament Church of Wakefield, was a member of the Women's Republican Club of Medford, enjoyed her family, grandchildren , friends, ceramics and gardening. Mrs. Wheeler was the devoted wife of the late Austin C. Wheeler, with whom they shared 25 years of marriage. She was the loving mother of Austin T. "Ozzie" Wheeler & his wife Lorraine of Melrose & the late Arlene "Penny " Smith & her husband Dr. Eugene Smith of Danvers. Cherished grandmother of Austin T. Wheeler, Jr. of Melrose & Jeannie Hollett & her husband John of Boxborough. Great grandmother of John & Benjamin Hollett. Caring sister of the late Louis Cefalo & Alma Malm. Also survived by several nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Thursday, February 4th at 9AM.
