Obituary

Walter J. 'Bud' Nolan died suddenly at Beverly Hospital Dec. 2nd at the age of 89. Walter was born and raised in Revere, graduated from Revere High School and Bentley College with an accounting degree. Bud lived in Melrose for over 40 years, summered in Wolfeboro NH for 30 years and spent several years living in Wolfeboro after his retirement. After living he Wolfeboro NH he lived in Beverly for 10 years and the past 8 years in Melrose. Bud was a controller for the Boston & Maine Railroad for 29 years retiring in 1975. He worked for Greyline Bus Co. for a short time after retirement and then for the Town of Wolfeboro NH for several years in accounting. Bud was a former member of the Holy Name Society in Melrose, an active member of the Melrose K of C and very generous to many Catholic Organizations. He enjoyed his travels to Ireland and was an avid Boston sports fan. He was the husband of the late Mary H. (Moylan) Nolan. Father of Nancy D. Dluehosh & her husband Paul, Geraldine F. Elberfeld & her husband Lawrence all of VA, Daniel J. Nolan & his wife Janet of Marblehead, Maryann K. Nolan of Medford, Sheila M. Bingham & her husband Jeff of Melrose and Peter J. Nolan & his wife Phyllis of W. Newbury. Also survived by 14 grandchildren and the late Andrew Demchik, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Friday Dec. 6th at 9 AM. Funeral mass in The Most Blessed Sacrament Church 1155 Main St. Wakefield at 10 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Thurs. 4-8 PM. Burial in Puritan Lawn Cemetery in Peabody. Memorial contributions may be made to Most Blessed Sacrament Church 11 Grove St. Wakefield 01880.
