Obituary

Wanda C. (Doherty) Forrest of Melrose, died Saturday, July 25, 2009 at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital. She was 90 years of age. Born on April 14, 1919 in Melrose to the late William J. & Mary (Dunn) Doherty, she was raised in Melrose and a graduate of St. Mary's Grammar & High Schools. She then went on to graduate from Malden Business School and worked as a secretary with Peter Chance & City TV of Melrose for a few years. Mrs. Forrest later worked as a nurse's aid at the Middlesex Fells Nursing Home for 13 years. She was a life long member of St. Mary's Church of Melrose, a member of Ladies Sodality and the Milano Senior Center. Wanda enjoyed gardening, arts & crafts, playing cards, dancing and was a dance instructor for many years. She was the devoted wife of the late Harold J. Forrest, loving mother of Kathleen A. Giannelli & her husband Richard of Melrose & Janice M. Forrest of Melrose. Cherished grandmother of Laura & David Giannelli. Caring sister of Barbara Asbury of Cape Elizabeth, ME. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Thurs. July 30th at 8AM. Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church Herbert St., Melrose at 9AM. Family & friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours Wed. 4-8PM. Interment in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. Arrangements by The Gately Funeral Home of Melrose.
