Ward "Smokie" Face III, of Palm Harbor, FL, formerly of Melrose, went to be with his Lord on July 24, 2015 at the age of 80. Ward was born in Stuyvesant Falls, NY, raised in Everett and a graduate of Everett High School, Class of 1953. After high school, he served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Ward was the owner of W. Face & Son in Melrose for over 50 years and made a lasting impact on his customers & many friends. Smokie resided in Melrose for over 25 years & the past 6 years in Palm Harbor, FL. He was a very religious & faithful man, a member of the Forest Dale Community Church in Malden and was also an assisting Minister at the Lutheran Church of the Palms in Palm Harbor, FL. Smokie was the past president and coach of the Melrose Little League for many years, a member of the Malden Moose Lodge for almost 50 years and a member of the Melrose Bowling League. Ward received his 1000 hour pin for volunteering at St. Luke's Hospital in Tarpon Springs, FL and would often tell his family to be proud of your name because it will travel with you for a lifetime. He was the beloved husband of Maureen A. (Walsh) Face for 58 years. Loving father of Steven Face of ME, Ronald Face of Wilmington, Dennis Face of Wakefield, Daniel Face of Tyngsboro, Anne Micciche of Tewksbury, John Face of Reading, Donna Face of FL and Andrew Face of NH. Cherished grandfather of Jennifer, Julie, Gail, Nancy, Kristin, Daniel Jr., Taryn, Kevin Jr., Lyndsay, Kyle, Devon, Nicholas, James, Zachary, Lauren, Cody, McKenzie and Allison. Great grandfather of Christian, Camden, Khloe, Jory, Corbin, Autumn, Bennett, Sawyer, Twins Jack & June, Leland, Rosco, Bronwynn, Johnny and Gracie (Due in August). Caring brother of Dave Face of FL, Wayne Face of NH and the late Steven Face. Also survived by many nieces & nephews. A Funeral Service will be held at the Forest Dale Community Church, 235 Forest St., Malden on Thursday, July 30th at 2PM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial will be private.
