Wendell Crosby Stephens, of Melrose, died at his home on March 25th surrounded by his family at the age of 69. Wendell was born & raised in Dominion, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and moved to the United States at the age of 19. He earned his nursing degree from St. Joseph's Nursing School in Glace Bay, Canada. Wendell worked as a Nurse for the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington for 42 years before retiring at the age of 62. He enjoyed watching sports, playing golf and spending time with his family. Wendell was a member of the"Moose" Lodge in Malden, Incarnation Church in Melrose & St. Joseph's Church in Malden. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (O'Connell) Stephens for 45 years. Loving father of Wendell W. Stephens & his wife Andrea of Lynnfield, Michelle A. Camuso & her husband Robert and Illona Sullivan & her husband James, all of Saugus. Cherished grandfather of Christopher, Julia & Matthews Stephens, Robert & Jake Camuso, Hannah, Braydon & Declan Sullivan. Caring brother of Aubrey Stephens of Nova Scotia. Nephew of John Crosby & his wife Elizabeth of Nova Scotia. Also survived by brother & sister in laws in Ireland & England. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Thursday March 31st at 9AM. Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St., Melrose at 10AM. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours on Wednesday from 4-8PM. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Wendell's name to St. Mary's Church, 46 Myrtle St., Melrose, MA 02176.
