Wilfra L. Swindlehurdst, 76, passed away unexpectedly wednesday at his summer home in Windham, ME. Born in Melrose he was lifelong resident. Wilfra graduated from Melrose High class of 1944, earned his Bachelors Degree at Northern University, and received his Masters of Business Administration at Bentley College. After the service, he was an auditor at New England Tel & Tel Co in the Boston office for over 40 years until he retired in 1992. Wilfra and his wife Elaine had been married for 50 years. He was an avid bowler in the Wednesday morning Bowling League, a parishioner of Most Blessed Sacrament Church and an assistant coach of the Churchill Americn Little League White Sox. He was the husband of the late Elaine F. ( Harris ) Swindlehurst. Father Sharon M. Slifer of Shelbyville IN, of Peter G. Swindlehurst of Portland ME, Andrew L. Swindlehurst of Melrose and Laurie A. Frank of Melrose. Grandfather of Geneva, Cameron and Rayna Frank. Brother of Paul Swindlehurst of FL. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W Foster St Melrose on Mon Sept 16 at 10AM. Funeral Mass in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St Wakefield at 11AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Sun 5 to 8 PM. Burial will be in Wyoming Cemetery.
