William B. Boyden Jr. passed away at his home in Melrose, on Saturday, May 17, 2008. He was 79 years of age. Bill was born and raised in Dorchester and graduated from Dorchester Boys High School. He has been a resident of Melrose for over 50 years. Mr. Boyden served in the US Marines during WWII and the Korean War. William worked as a salesman in the graphic arts business for over 50 years, working for Compu Graphics, Harold M. Pitman as well as several other companies in the Boston area. He was a proud member of the National Rifle Association, the K of C and the VFW Harold O'Young Post # 2394 in Melrose. Bill was known for helping out the kids in the neighborhood, fixing bikes or just lending a hand. He also liked to work on the landscaping around his home. Husband of Mary E. (Maloney) Boyden. Father of William B. Boyden III & his wife Susan of SC, Michael G. Boyden & his wife Janet of VT and James C. Boyden & his wife Laura of Melrose. Brother of Norma Sweeney of Reading. Grandfather of Michael, Stephen & Kelley Boyden all of VT. Great grandfather of Anna Parsons. Also survived by numerous nieces & nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Friday, May 23rd at 8AM. Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 9AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Thurs. 4-8PM. Interment will be private.
