William S. Ciampa passed away at his home in Saugus, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, December 22, 2012. He was 90 years of age. Mr. Ciampa was born in Boston on February 4, 1922 to the late Nicholas & Mary (Gugliucciello) Ciampa. He was raised in East Boston, graduated from Boston English High School in 1939 and Tufts University in 1950 with a teaching degree. Bill taught at the Carroll School for the Blind, at the Barnes Middle School in East Boston and at East Boston High School for many years. He was also a special needs administrator in Boston. Mr. Ciampa served his country proudly in the US Army during WWII, was a member of the Melrose Veteran's Club, Melrose Bridge Club, was past president of the Mount Hood Park Association and was a member of St. Mary's Church in Melrose for many years. William was a poet, an artist, an avid golfer and a former member of Oakley Country Club in Watertown. He was the loving husband of 31 years to Mary Grant Ciampa & the late Laura (Ieni) Ciampa. Proud father of Dr. Julia Grant Ciampa of Saugus, Mary Hansen & her husband Jay of Maine & William S. Ciampa Jr. of Nevada. Grandfather of Laura & Mariah Hansen. Brother of the late John, Guy & Alfred Ciampa and Mary Indorato. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose, on Thursday, December 27th at 9AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose at 10AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday from 2-5PM.
