Obituary

William T. Clark Sr. passed away at Massachusetts General Hospital on July 4, 2016. He was 81 years of age. Bill was born in Malden, MA on November 14, 1934 to the late Charles E. & Marjorie (Kitteridge) Clark. He was raised in Malden, graduated from Malden High School, Class of 1953 and Massachusetts State Police Academy. Mr. Clark was appointed to the Massachusetts State Police in 1962 and was assigned to Troop "D". In 1965 he was assigned to the Office of Governor John A. Volpe as a security driver. In 1969 he was assigned Chief of Security to Governor F. W. Sargent. In 1974, Mr. Clark was appointed the Clerk of Court at the Gardner District Court, he was later designated Clerk-Magistrate, a position held until his retirement. Bill was employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for over 40 years. He was also a Justice of the Peace, Commissioner of Quality Public Officers, Bail Magistrate and was on special assignment to various courts throughout the Commonwealth. Bill was the husband of the late Esther M. (Wentzel) Clark. Father of William T Clark Jr. & his wife Anne of Melrose, Mark A. Clark & his wife Donna of Peabody, Paul R. Clark & his wife Eileen of E. Wareham, Jeffrey O. Clark & his wife Sandy of Marstons Mills and Edward M. Clark of Melrose. Grandfather of Kevin T. & Eoin T of E. Wareham, Brian D. of Peabody, Jeffrey L. & Angela J. of Marstons Mills, William T III, Scott J. of Melrose, Seana Blanchard of Saugus and the late Michael E. Clark. Great grandfather of Ellie. Brother of the late Robert M. Clark and the late Charles Clark. Also survived by many nieces & nephews and 3 very dear friends Barbara & Peter McHugh of Malden and Tim Cronin of Reading. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Thursday July 7, 2016 from 4:00-8:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose on Friday, July 8th at 10:30AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Burial at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose will be private. Retired Massachusetts State Trooper & Clerk-Magistrate. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
