William J. Connors, of Peabody, died at the Prescott House in N. Andover on April 8, 2017 at the age of 91. Bill was born in Lowell, raised in South Boston and a graduate of Boston Latin High School. After high school, Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. After returning from WWII, he resided in S. Boston till 1951, Malden for 41 years, South Dennis for 12 years and the past in 13 years in Peabody. He worked as a Production Manager for Braude Brothers in Woburn & Colonial Leather in Boston for many years. Bill was very active in the St. Joseph's Church CYO, CCD, St. Vincent's DePaul Society, bingo and the men's club. He was a member of the South Dennis V.F.W. & Knights of Columbus. Bill was an umpire for the American Little League in Malden for 15 years and his family was the most important part of his life. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary V. (McCusker) Connors for 54 years. Loving father of William E. Connors & his wife Nancy of Peabody, Maryellen Dooley & her husband Stephen of NH and Dianne M. Grenier & her husband Michael of Fitchburg. Cherished grandfather of Katherine Marrese, Erin, Sarah & Allison Connors, Meghan & Colleen Dooley, Michael Grenier and Mary Kathryn Keohane. Devoted great grandfather of William & Hailey. Caring brother of Margaret Sheehan & the late Mary Cummings. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives & friends. Visiting hours will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St., Melrose on Wednesday, April 12th from 11:30-1:00PM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph's Church, 770 Salem St., Malden at 1:30PM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend.
