William S. Ellis passed away at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on January 29th at the age of 74. He was born in Boston, raised in Dorchester, lived in Somerville & Saugus for a few years, Melrose for 32yrs and the past year and a half in Reading. Bill served in the US Navy during the Korean War as a medic. He owned and operated the William S. Ellis Construction Company of Melrose for over 40 years. He was a dedicated father and grandfather and the husband of Madeline L. (Cavicchio) Ellis. Father of Patricia A. Crawford & her husband Robert of Reading and Lu-Ann Graves & her husband Steven of Wakefield. Brother of Jerrold Ellis of Middleboro and the late Kenneth Ellis. Grandfather of Julianne M. Collins, Robert W. Crawford both of Reading, Madeline S. Graves and Steven Graves both of Wakefield. Great grandfather of Arianna M. & Nicholas K. Collins. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Tues. Feb. 3rd at 9AM. Funeral mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St. Wakefield, at 10AM. Relatives and friends. Visiting hours Monday 4-8PM. Entombment in Holy Cross Mausoleum in Malden.
