William J. "Billy" Hunt passed away at Epoch of Melrose Nursing Home on Sunday, April 10, 2016. He was 73 years of age. Billy was raised in Charlestown and Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School, Class of 1960. Mr. Hunt worked at New England Telephone Company for more than 40 years. He first started out as a lineman and then finished his career in management for the phone company. Billy has been a longtime Melrose Resident, was a member of the New England Telephone Pioneers, was a member of the Melrose Elks and played in the golf leagues at Mount Hood Golf Course. Mr. Hunt also loved spending time around his home, working on his house, loved the ocean and could be seen walking all over Melrose. He is the beloved husband of Mary E. (Kelley) Hunt. Loving father of Joseph W. Hunt of Melrose and Matthew T. Hunt of Los Angeles, CA. Proud grandfather of Leonardo W. Hunt and caring brother of Thomas Hunt of Melrose, James Hunt of FL and the late Marilyn Moriello. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 8:30-10:00AM. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, 9 Herbert St. Melrose at 10:30AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Burial will be private.
