William T. "Bill" Linehan of Melrose died on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at the Brigham & Women's Hospital of Boston. He was 73 years of age. Born on July 2, 1936, a son to the late William E. & Agnes (Shea) Linehan, he was raised in Lowell and a 1954 graduate of the Keith Academy. Bill was a member of the United States Army National Guard and worked for 36 years as a foreman with North East Airlines and then with Delta Airlines after the two companies merged. He worked as a mechanic on Air Force One while with North East Airlines in the 1960's and got to take a flight on the plane when Lyndon B. Johnson was in office. He retired 16 years ago but continued to be Mr. Fix-it around the house, especially with snowblowers. His true pride was his children and his grandchildren and he would build them a skating rink in the back yard every winter. He was a resident of Melrose, a member of the Church of the Incarnation of Melrose and the Yellowbirds Club. A group of retirees from North East Airlines. Bill was the devoted husband of Jean (Hazelton) Linehan, with whom they shared 48 years of marriage. He was the loving & devoted father of Susan M. Sauls & her husband Ryan of N. Andover, Kenneth W. Linehan & his wife Susan of Derry, NH, Christina M. LaRock & her husband Jean-Daniel of Melrose & Melissa J. Cunningham & her husband Robert, also of Melrose. Cherished grandfather of Emily, Jake, Ava, Matthew, Sheilagh, Patrick, Lily & Abby. Caring brother of Margo Buckley of Lowell. Also survived by many nieces, nephews & cousins. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Tuesday, March 9th at 9AM. Funeral Mass in his memory at the Church of the Incarnation 425 Upham St., Melrose at 10AM.
