Obituary

William T. Troughton died at Melrose Wakefield Hospital Wednesday Feb. 14 at the age of 81 after a lengthy illness. William was born in Barrow-N-Furnace England and came to this country when was 4 yrs old. He grew up in Somerville, graduated from Somerville High and from the time he was four until he was seventeen he sang professionally in the choir at the Emanuel Episcopal Church in Boston. After high school Bill entered the Army AirCorps where he served during WWII. He was a foreman/supervisor at the MBTA for 44 yrs and retired in 1980. He was an avid golfer and was one of the fortunate golfers to shoot a hole-in-one!. Burial will be in Purtitan Lawn Cemetery Peabody. He was the husband of the late Evelyn F. ( Wise ) Troughton. Father of Beverly K. Willwerth of Reading, Marilyn J. Collins of Stoneham, Gail I. Lepere of Hampton Falls, NH and Elaine E. Cook of Salem. Father-in-law of Jay Willwerth, John Collins, Paul Lepere and Robert Cook. Brother of Isabel and her husband Floyd Campbell of New Seabury. Grandfather of Denise & Jim Willwerth, Michael, Timothy, Kathleen and Kevin Collins, Brandon, Jillian & Kimberly Lepere and the late Johnny Collins. Also survived by several nieces & nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held in the Gately Funeral Home 79 W Foster St Melrose on Monday Feb 19 at 9 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Sunday 3 - 7 pm. Memorial contributions may be sent to Mystic Valley Elder Services, 300 Commercial St # 19, Malden 02148.
